Hello from the wilderness!
I know it’s been awhile. 2014 to be specific. But, I’m slowly coming back. The past year saw some amazing new adventures. I already have a full summer planned with remote trips scheduled for half of May, parts of June, and through August. I’m especially excited about a five-day river trip I’m taking in September on the Allagash with Chip and Lani Cochrane, two legendary Master Maine Guides. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the river as a protected waterway, and being able to hone up my skills with these two in the setting of a stunning fall color show is going to be a highlight of my year.
As of today I have a couple of new pages published. You can preview my published works, as well as upcoming books, “The Wilderness is Home” and “Tangled Trees, Clear Mind.” The former is a book of essays regarding wilderness ethics and Buddhist concepts of interdependence that I’ve been slowly working at over the past few years. The other is a collection of poetry that I’ve been assembling for over a decade. I’m real excited about sharing more of these projects with you in the coming year.
The other two additions are a page to the introduction to my forthcoming book “The Wilderness is Home” as well as the formation of a Gear page. More will be developed on the latter soon. I get asked a lot of questions about the gear I use, and figure it would make sense to highlight the stuff I truly love and wouldn’t go without.

For now, it’s time to get back to the writing. I look forward to seeing you out there on the trails.
